There are several methods for testing for defective drywall. One method is doing a visual inspection of the exposed metal components including copper wiring, coils in the HVAC Systems and other areas that would have been exposed to the corrosive vapor. This method is subjective in nature depending on the different levels of exposure. These inspections start at $295 to complete.
The second method is to take a representative number of samples of drywall from around your home (2”x2” samples) and through proper documentation and chain of custody. The samples are sent/delivered to an accredited laboratory for analysis. We try to take the sample from areas that are not noticeable including behind baseboards and inside closets if possible. This testing starts at $895 which would include three samples. If additional samples are needed, they are $175 per sample.
The final method is using an XRF Spectrometer. This is completed by a qualified inspector. If this method is desired we can obtain a quote for this inspection.
